OSIMPAYA TABLET

VIRAL FEVER

From common cold to the flu several viral infections can affect the humans. Depending upon the type of viral infection a person may suffer from low grade fever to high grade fever such as dengue and malaria. Certain viral fevers can cause thrombocytopenia.

Thrombocytopenia is a condition in which there is low platelet count in the blood and if it is not treated on time there are chances of bleeding which can be fatal.

FEVER ACCORDING TO AYURVEDA

In Ayurveda, change in the body temperature is called jwara, which is correlated to fever. In most cases fever relates to a situation of diminished heat inside the amasya (gastrointestinal tract) and a high peripheral temperature.

According to Ayurveda, fever can either be a disease or a symptom of another disease. Fever as a symptom is found in infectious diseases or diseases classified within the character of Pitta.

Each tablet contains:

Extracts of: Giloy 350 mg, Papita 150 mg, Tulsi 50 mg

Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia)

It is a well-known immune-modulator herb used in the correction of auto immunity. It balances tridosha in the body. Guduchi is highly rich in anti-oxidants and has anti-pyretic, anti-viral and wound healing properties. In classical texts Guduchi Swarasa and Guduchi Kalka prepared from the stem of T cordifolia is indicated for the treatment of fever.

According to a study, an immunomodulatory protein (ImP) in guduchi was purified from dry stem powder extract. The confirmation of an immunomodulatory protein in guduchi stem showing lymphoproliferative and macrophage-activating properties reinforces the rationale of the use of guduchi preparations in several Ayurvedic medicines for immunomodulation. Papita (Carica papaya)

According to a conducted study the platelet increasing property of Carica papaya leaves in patients with dengue fever were investigated. An open labeled randomized controlled trial was carried out on 228 patients with dengue fever and dengue haemorrhagic fever. After study it was concluded that Carica papaya leaves significantly increases the platelet count in patients with dengue fever and dengue haemorrhagic fever.Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine Volume 2013, Article ID 616737, 7 pages

In another study, the anti-malarial activity of leaf extract of Carica papaya was determined. In result plant showed moderate to good anti-parasitic effects.Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Disease (2012)S306-S311

In a clinical study, the effect of Carica papaya leaf extract on platelet count in dengue fever patients was studied. In results, it was concluded that Carica papaya leaf extract increases the platelet count in dengue fever without any side effect and prevents the complication of thrombocytopenia. So, it can be used in dengue fever with thrombocytopenia patients.J Assoc Physicians India. 2016 Jun;64(6):22-26

 Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum)

In Ayurveda, Tulsi is known as one of the most important antiviral herb. In a study, the antipyretic activity of the fixed oil was tested against typhoid paratyphoid A/B vaccine-induced pyrexia. It was observed that the reduction in febrile response indicates its antipyretic activity; the fixed oil possesses a prostaglandin inhibitory activity.

The essential oils like Eugenol of Tulsi leaves produce anti-viral activity. Different types of extracts of Ocimum sanctum have anti-viral activity against different viruses e.g. Hematopoietic Necrosis Virus (IHNV), polio virus type 3, herpes virus (HSV), hepatitis B virus, New castle Disease Virus.

In a clinical study of indigenous herbal composite containing leaves of Carica papaya, Ocimum sanctum, Tinospora cordfolia in Dengue fever and with Blumea lacera in equal parts in Dengue hemorrhagic fever and Shock proves worth in alleviating fever, bodyache, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, progressive increase in platelet count, checking haemorrhage promptly and reverting all the altered haematological, hepatic and renal parameters in 10 days without any drug adversity with 100% compliance was observed. International Journal of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IJCCLM).Volume 3, Issue 1, 2017, PP 11-20

Certain viral fevers can cause thrombocytopenia which means low platelet count in the blood. This condition can range from mild to severe, depending on the underlying cause. In some cases, the symptoms can include severe bleeding and are possibly fatal if they're not treated.

Osimpaya is the herbal formulation prepared by the combination of thrombopoietic, immunomodulators and antiviral herbs which effectively treats fever of viral origin. The immunomodulatory action of the ingredients provides immunity to the body and helps in faster recovery.

Osimpaya contains the herbal mixture i.e. Guduchi, Papaya and Tulsi, which balances the imbalanced doshas & provides progressive increase in platelet count and helps in alleviation of symptoms related to viral fever.
